It’s the transition into the third stage of life, and a call to change. Our current culture has reduced menopause to a series of unpleasant (and often intolerable) symptoms. Unsexy. Unattractive. Hidden at best, shamed a worst. Our dominant western culture treats women in their midlife as unattractive or invisible.
Without value. And often, we find ourselves agreeing with them. The mere mention of menopause is more often accompanied by a groan and a sense of dread. We haven’t been taught about the value this time brings, or the necessity and opportunity that comes through embracing this stage in life.
